Our motivation to decarbonize the financial system can be boiled down to one problematic truth: The financial sector is on track to fund emissions generation well beyond the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C, which scientists say is required to maintain a safe planet.
But just how carbon-intensive is this financial sector and what does it mean for businesses, organizations, and individuals that rely on the financial system to manage and grow their money? And most importantly, what can be done to align our financial management with our climate and social objectives?
In 2024, we will publish several reports that illuminate the carbon-intensive nature of our money moving throughout the financial system as well as a suite of tools and services that can help everyone transform their finances into a force for progress.
